Reducing the size of the stone fraction results in a reduction in the amount of material required for the top coating and not absorbing water, which ultimately means an overall reduction in the weight of the shingles. There is no change in bitumen content, which is the waterproofing part of the roof shingles. So even though there is a weight reduction, IKO has increased the durability of your roof.
Next to reducing the weight of the shingles IKO decided to reduce the m² per bundle to around 2 m². This implies much easier handling for the roofer on the roof.
