Tyto 2 typy šindelů jsou si velmi podobné! Skelná rohož používaná v IKO šindelů je silná, odolná a neměnná vůči libovolnému počasí. Organické šindele (IKO nevyrábí organické šindele) jsou méně voděodolné a ohnivzdorné, protože organická plsť je pórovitý materiál. Organické šindele absorbují vlhkost z okolního prostředí což při klimatických změnách teplot vede ke katastrofálním následkům - rozpadu organických šindelů.
