Mastic is an important product to use during application of roof shingles.
IKO mastics allow you to work in highly windy areas, on slopes greater than 60° and in colder weather conditions.
All IKO mastics are 100 % compatible with IKO roof shingles.

You would need mastics to ensure the waterproof tightness of your roof details at the rakes, flashings, valleys, windows,...
Although roof shingles are nailed, extra bituminous mastic should be added when roof shingles are installed in areas with a lot of wind
OR in winter time IKO also recommends to seal the roof shingles with extra bituminous mastic.
Beware not to use just any brand of bituminous mastic in combination with bitumen roof shingles.
Note that steep slope shingle application (> 60°) or application of shingles in high wind areas require extra IKO nails and hand sealing with IKO mastic.
During cold weather application of extra mastic must be added in the same manner.
In high wind areas the tabs of each roof shingle should be glued for at least the top five courses of the roof.
Bituminous mastic should be applied in amounts no greater than 25 mm in diameter and used sparingly.
